Our 2007 Alder Spring Syrah has a vibrant purple color with aromas of strawberries, raspberry jam and lilac. The wine was aged in 33% oak to produce smooth tannins and a nice round mouth feel. The Gold Medal and 94 point rating comes from the Beverage Tastings Institute’s 2009 World Wine Championships. The judges provided the following tasting notes:
Deep purple color. Lightly brett influenced aromas of black olive skin, nuts, leather and singed berry creme brulee follow thorugh on a round, silky entry to a dryish medium-to-full body with complex layers of flavor and generous cedar and spice accented fade with smooth tannins. An intriguing, slightly rustic and Euro styled syrah that should do well at the table with game. |
